This scholarship will be awarded to 1,000 students nationwide and is open to African American, American Indian, Asian Pacific Islander, or Hispanic American. Students must be legal citizens and meet Federal Pell Grant eligibility criteria. Students must have an unweighted GPA of 3.3 or higher. They must also intend to choose a career in one of the following: computer science, education, engineering, library science, mathematics, public health, or science. The three parts of the scholarship application are the Nominee Form, the Nominator Form, and the Recommender Form. All of this may be accessed online at www.gmsp.org. 2. SunTrust Off To College Scholarship
SunTrust Bank will award a $1,000.00 scholarship to a senior every two weeks between October, 2011 and May, 2012. Every senior may enter as eligibility is not based on GPA or financial need. 45. American Legion Riders Scholarship
This scholarship is open to any student attending any two or four year college. The applicant must be the daughter/son or granddaughter/grandson of a U.S. Veteran or U.S. active service member. 46. Optimist Club Oratorical Contest

47. James J. and Mamie R. Perkins Health Professions Scholarship
There are two scholarships available for students seeking a degree in a health-related field. One scholarship is for a student attending Pitt Community College. It is worth $2,128.00 each year for two years. The second scholarship is for a student attending East Carolina University and is worth $5,562.41 each year for four years. Applications may be picked up in the guidance office and must be returned to Coach Pearson by March 21st, 2012.
48. Greenville Noon Rotary Club Scholarship
This scholarship is worth $1,000.00. Students need to have a good GPA and alot of community service work. If interested, see Coach Pearson in guidance to get an application. All applications must be returned prior to March 26th, 2012.
49. Eppes-Davenport-Murrell Scholarship
This is a $1,000 scholarship. Applicants must have a minimum SAT of 3.0. Preference will be given to students who have a relative that attended C.M. Eppes High School. Applicants may be picked up in guidance. The completed applications must be returned to guidance before Friday, March 30th, 2012.
50. Bill Grimm Memorial Scholarship
This scholarship is for a student planning to major in sports medicine. They must have a minimum GPA of 3.0 and have participated in several community service projects. Applications may be picked up in guidance and must be returned before April 25th, 2012.
51. Madge Barnes Allen Scholarship
This scholarship is for a student attending a four year college or university and interested in pursuing courses of study in visual or performing arts. A minimum GPA of 3.0 is required along with a letter of recommendation from the Music/Art/Theatre dept. All interested students can get an application from Coach Pearson in guidance. All completed applications must be returned to guidance by March 26th, 2012.
52. Thelma Jones Scholarship
This is a $500.00 scholarship. Students must have a parent who belongs to the NCSSA (North Carolina Social Services Association). The student must have a minimum GPA of 3.0. Applications may be picked up in guidance and must be postmarked before May 1st, 2012.
53. Kiwanis Club of Ayden Grifton Scholarship
This scholarship is worth $2,000.00 and is awarded to an Ayden Grifton student. Academic excellence is a high priority as well as community service and leadership. Applications may be picked up in guidance and are due back prior to April 23rd, 2012.

This is the ‘’People Helping People” scholarship sponsored by SECU. It is open to all seniors and the emphasis is on strong academics and community service. It is worth $10,000.00. 59. Delano R. Wilson Memorial Scholarship

60. South Ayden High School Alumni Association Scholarship
Students are eligible to apply for this scholarship if they have any relatives who attended South Ayden High School. Students must have a minimum of a C average.
