Independent Reading Assignment
Honors 11th grade (AP assignment listed below Honors)

By choosing to take an Honors class, you are
accepting responsibility for more independent work. All Honors
students at Ayden-Grifton High School are expected to
participate in the Independent Reading Assignment. Please refer
to the information below for your requirements.
Novel: Streetcar Named Desire by Tennessee Williams
It is your responsibility to get a copy of this book. You may
purchase one or check one out from the local library. The AGHS
library does not have multiple copies for loan. Look at used
bookstores, and you can probably pick up a copy. Also, EBAY has
lots of copies for sale at very cheap prices!
Assignments:
A Model Card Report. Use the example on the back of this sheet.
This assignment should be completed in your words. You will be
held accountable if you plagiarize.
**Due Date: The 1st day of the 2nd marking period – no
exceptions
A Writing Assignment. Your teacher will guide you through this
assignment. You should have a copy of the novel at the time this
assignment is given for use in class. Copies can be checked out
from the AGHS library.
**Due Date: Determined by teacher during the 2nd marking period
Grading:
The average of these 2 grades will count 33% (or 1/3) of your
2nd marking period average.
We suggest that you read the novel and complete the Model Card
Report during the summer because you will have other assignments
in all of your other classes once school begins. You may find
that your time is limited.

Eat, Pray, Love by Elizabeth Gilbert
THE AGE OF WONDER: How the Romantic Generation Discovered the
Beauty and Terror of Science By Richard Holmes
Branded: The Buying and Selling of Teenagers by Alissa Quart
NOTE: These are only SUGGESTIONS. Any NONFICTION of more than
200 pages will work.
