N. C. School of Math & Science
Any 10th
grade student interested in attending the North Carolina School
of Math and Science should contact Mrs. Glass as soon as
possible. Any student pursuing this must sign up for the October
SAT.
Financial Aid Night/Workshop
Pitt County
Schools will be conducting a “Financial Aid Night/Workshop” for
parents and students. Amy Denton and other staff members from
CFNC (College Foundation of North Carolina) will be conducting
this workshop. The workshop
will be held on two separate dates; first on November 9th
from 6:00-7:00 pm and again on February 3rd from
6:00-7:00pm. Both sessions will be held in the auditorium at
South Central High School.
Teen
Leadership Institute
Attention all 10th/11th graders:
The Teen Leadership Institute is a program to help high school
students learn how to best serve their community by teaming up
with students from other schools. They will share ideas with
Pitt County professionals who represent businesses and
organizations. Students will tour the hospital system, East
Carolina University, Pitt Community College, and the City of
Greenville as part of the program. Any student wishing to
participate must have good grades and be committed. If you wish
to participate see Coach Pearson before September 20th, 2010.
SAT Review Course
The ECU College of Business will offer an SAT
Review Course this fall. The course, consisting of five
classes, will be held on Saturdays from 9 am – 12 pm
beginning on Saturday, September 25th. Details
are below:

16, and 23, 2010 from 9 am to 12 pm
WHERE: ECU’s main campus (Bate Building)
WHO: High school students preparing for the
SAT
COST: $140 before Sept. 17th and
$155 after deadline
HOW TO REGISTER: Mail or fax the

address on the flyer) or call Office of Professional

Scholarships
1. The Thomas Wolfe Scholarship
This scholarship is for students who plan to pursue a career in writing
books, screenplays, etc. at the University of North Carolina at
Chapel Hill. Applications may be obtained at
http://english.unc.edu/creative/tws.Deadline for submitting the application is November 1st,2010.
2. Park Scholarship
This scholarship is for students attending N.C. State University. It is a
merit based scholarship. To be competitive, the applicant must
have a GPA in the 4.5 range or higher and an SAT in the
1700-1800 range. If interested , see Coach Pearson in Guidance.
All applications must be completed before October 1st,2010.
